Terms of use
The practical rules for using Catchup, including account security, timetable permissions and the limits of a study-planning tool.
1. Accepting these terms
These Terms of Use form an agreement between you and the operator of Catchup. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy and Data Collection Notice. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use Catchup.
2. What Catchup provides
Catchup imports timetable information, helps label university calendar fields, prioritises classes and lets you record assessments and completion progress. Features may change as the service develops.
Catchup is independent software. It is not a university system, learning-management system or official source of academic requirements.
3. Accounts and eligibility
- Provide accurate account information and keep it reasonably current.
- Keep your password and timetable subscription URL confidential.
- You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless you promptly report unauthorised access.
- If you are under 18, use the service only if you have the capacity to agree to these terms or permission from a parent or guardian.
4. Your timetable and content
You keep ownership of information you submit. You give Catchup a limited permission to host, retrieve, parse, copy and display that information only as needed to operate and improve the service.
You must have the right to use any timetable URL or content you connect. Do not connect another person’s private calendar or upload content that is unlawful, harmful or infringes someone else’s rights.
5. Acceptable use
Do not misuse Catchup. In particular, do not:
- attempt to access another user’s account or data;
- probe, bypass or interfere with authentication, security controls or service availability;
- use automated traffic in a way that creates an unreasonable load;
- introduce malware or use the service for unlawful conduct; or
- reverse engineer the service except where applicable law permits it.
6. Check official sources
Calendar feeds can be incomplete, delayed, duplicated or formatted incorrectly. Catchup’s classifications, priorities and reminders are organisational aids, not official academic advice. Always verify class times, locations, assessment requirements and deadlines with your university or course convenor.
You remain responsible for academic decisions, submissions, attendance and meeting university requirements.
7. Availability and changes
Catchup may be unavailable during maintenance, provider outages or circumstances outside reasonable control. We may add, remove or modify features, but will try not to make changes that unnecessarily compromise access to your stored information.
8. Intellectual property
Catchup’s software, interface, branding and original content are owned by the operator or its licensors. These terms give you a personal, limited, revocable and non-transferable right to use the service. They do not transfer ownership of Catchup or your content between us.
9. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled. The Data Collection Notice explains the information collected during account setup and use.
10. Suspension and ending use
You may stop using Catchup at any time and request account deletion. We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to protect users or the service, respond to legal requirements, investigate misuse or enforce these terms. Where practical, we will provide notice and an opportunity to address the issue.
11. Legal rights and responsibility
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies a consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, including any applicable rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Subject to those non-excludable rights, Catchup is provided on an “as available” basis. We do not promise that imported information will always be accurate or that the service will be uninterrupted. To the extent permitted by law, Catchup is not responsible for loss caused by relying on the app instead of checking an official university source, or for indirect or consequential loss that was not reasonably foreseeable.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Australian Capital Territory and Australia. Courts with jurisdiction in the Australian Capital Territory may hear disputes, subject to any rights you have to bring a matter elsewhere under applicable consumer law.
13. Changes and contact
Updated terms will be posted here with a new effective date. If a change materially affects existing users, Catchup may also provide notice inside the service. Questions can be sent to privacy@jackbmc.com.
